Sydney-based singer/songwriter Rudyb is a dreamer with a passion for emotional lyrics. He has been singing for a few years now but was mainly focused on covers, until recently. He started releasing original tracks last year to further his artistic talents.
“Into the wild” was his final track to be released in 2020, and he has since released a new single. The song is not what it first appears or sounds like to new listeners. While images of wild beauty, adventure, and group thrill-seeking may come to mind at first, the message is much darker than that. Pleasant guitar melodies bubble up to set a pleasant tone for the surface-level emotions. The sweet main vocals breeze over the acoustic instrumentation and are met with beautiful backing vocals in the chorus, which is where listeners are introduced to the song’s main message.
The process of “going into the wild” describes the end of one’s life and going into the unknown. The song explores the emotions of losing someone very close to you and not being able to do anything about it. This deeper message seems contradictory to the sunny disposition of the production and vocals, asking listeners to really listen to the lyrics to understand the drive behind the song. The song’s climax and ending, painted by harmonizing vocals and highlighted scenes of nature imagined by the words, are open for interpretation by listeners.
