Dutch ambient indie/pop duo ROWANN is formed by singer/songwriter Sophie de Graaf and producer/songwriter Robert Swijgman. Using harp and guitar as their harmonic DNA, they have formed a strong musical bond throughout the years creating ambient indie-pop music. Experimenting with every element of their instrument, their songs evolve into multilayered, lush soundscapes infused with profound lyrics. The duo pursues their art without limitations, shooting film and photography throughout Wales, Ireland, and France to strengthen their musical journey. They are gearing up to release their second EP this year.

Their newest single, “Behind the Borders,” is about exploring the depths of imagination. An exciting sonic blend of harp and electric guitar backs a lush beat and catchy multilayered vocals. The ethereal soundscape is peaceful and calm, yet hypnotizing and crashing. The lyrics roll through the enchanting instrumentals at a constant pace. So even though the soundscape is mesmerizingly serene, there is steady movement thanks to the continuous vocals. The songwriting is equally beautiful and tranquil as it reveals the exploration of the mind. With a run time of just under 3 minutes, this song leaves listeners wanting more of the harmonious and breezy ambiance.
