Remi Wolf Returns With New Song And Music Video, “Michael”

Hot off the success of her debut album Juno, Remi Wolf prepares to release a deluxe version of the album on June 3, 2022. The deluxe edition of Juno will feature four new songs including latest release “Michael” and some reimagined fan-favorites from the album’s initial iteration.

Remi Wolf is known for experimenting when it comes to genre, but she truly shines with her new grunge-ballad hybrid, “Michael.” In this song about a love-obsessed woman’s slow descent into madness, what Wolf does best is curating disquieting images.

Lick the poison apple

Drag me to the chapel

Pullin’ out my centerfold

“Michael” by Remi Wolf

Listeners don’t know whether or not to be enamored or offended by the unsettling images that Wolf creates, but their interest is peaked (and in a good way).

If “Michael” makes you question the meaning behind the seemingly random and provocative lyrics, you’re not alone. In Remi Wolf’s own words, “When I was writing the song, I was just free-styling and letting words fall out. The meaning has come to me now after a couple months. The song paints a picture of a manic and obsessed woman who craves the high she gets from Michael’s attention and is willing to delve deep into an masochistic toxic pit to get it.”

With new clarity, we can move onto the music video for “Michael.” It’s rather simplistic, featuring only Wolf and at one point a horse and two dogs. It captures the beauty of the city through a lens that is equal parts cinematic and overcast in the most breathtaking and artistic way.

“Michael” Music Video

On the creation of the video Wolf says, “I wanted the video to really paint a picture of this lady running around the city trying to find Michael. We filmed run and gun style in Argentina while I was on tour there, it was a bit of a whirlwind, which in the end added to the mania of the video.”

Remi Wolf is currently on tour now until October with plenty of places to catch her live. If you love “Michael” and need more Remi Wolf, start with Juno. The deluxe album comes out June 3!
