Remi Wolf Returns with New Single “Prescription”
Remi Wolf is back with her single “Prescription” for the first time this year, working with Solomonophonic and Knox Fortune. The Californian singer-songwriter shares a glimpse behind the development of the track, revealing how the song was inspired by a conversation between a close friend, Boots Riley, and herself. Riley is an influential American musician, rapper, filmmaker, and activist who often discusses societal norms through his work and commitment to social justice.
A few months ago, Boots Riley called me and we spoke about his new tv show “I’m a Virgo“. 24 hours later – this song was inspired by that conversation and it is being featured in the tv show out this summer. I loved it so much that I wanted to release it and share it with you all as a special little something.

The song is set to be featured in the show, which comes to Amazon Prime in the summer. The trailer has already created noise as an absurd yet relatable coming-of-age story.
“Prescription” seems to emphasize that feeling. The song is full of warm synth sounds, with an occasional shimmering of a horn here and acoustic instrumentation there. Wolf’s laid-back sense of rhythm then ties everything together. The lyrics read like a diary, achieving a balance between poetic and heartfelt.
The music video borrows the VHS aesthetic, reminiscent of old video logs with that staticky and grainy quality. As the song cues, multiple versions of Wolf come into the picture. Each is dressed differently, as if different personas have come together to create (they’re literally painting).
Interestingly enough, everything is captured in nearly one continuous take. Wolf’s many personalities fade in and out as they simply dance and groove. This cut then transitions into a montage of many things: trees, flowers, birds and sometimes Wolf herself with her glittery eyeshadow. There is a dizzying effect, as the camera spins and twirls, yet watching the scene is never overwhelming.
Now, “Prescription” is just one of the many amazing tracks, so make sure to check out Wolf’s discography on Spotify. Remi Wolf is also booked for the summer, making appearances at several festivals like The Governors Ball, Bonnaroo and Vortex Festival. Get tickets and be graced by her otherworldly and talented performances live!
