This week’s New Music Friday offers lust, heartbreak, and everything in between. Press play, and find what feels right.

1. Tinashe: “Getting No Sleep”

Independent R&B princess Tinashe returns with “Getting No Sleep” hot off the heels of her recent hit “Nasty.” It is a chill garage track that shows off her calm side and vocal technique; a perfect tease for her upcoming EP, QUANTUM BABY. This track’s music video reveals the answer to the question, “Is somebody gonna match my freak?”

2. Lacey Sturm, Lindsey Stirling: “Forever & Ever”

The wonderful Lacey Sturm and Lindsey Stirling collaborate once again for “Forever & Ever,” a cinematic track full of power and emotion. Lindsey’s orchestral expertise and Lacey’s dynamic vocals fuse to create an early 2000’s inspired rock ballad, reminiscent of the Twilight series.

3. NOTHING MORE: “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE”

Powerhouse metal band NOTHING MORE makes a striking return with “RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.” The track begins echo-y and ambient with layered vocals, then explodes into a belting chorus. As the bass rumbles and the song progresses, the ears reach a final outro that introduces some EDM elements.

4. lil aaron, Royal & the Serpent: “MISERY LOVES COMPANY”

Offbeat and alternative, lil aaron teams up with Royal & the Serpent for “MISERY LOVES COMPANY.” The track recounts the lessons of recognizing one’s faults and working through a traumatic healing process. Lil aaron’s raspy, autotuned vocals contrast Royal & the Serpent’s lighter, smoother tone, resulting in just the right amount of edge.

5. Chaparelle (Zella Day, Jesse Woods): “Bleeding Hearts”

Texas-based Zella Day and Jesse Woods, together known as Chaparelle, come back with a stunning duet, “Bleeding Hearts.” Romantic, old-fashioned, and even a little beachy, the country/folk ballad exudes a particular feeling of nostalgia. It is a song one would hear playing quietly from a tiny, vintage radio.
