On January 27, Canadian metalcore powerhouse, Red Handed Denial, have released a brand new single, “Father Said.” This track is the band’s first new music in over two years and is accompanied by an official music video.

Speaking on the band’s brand new release, vocalist and YouTube sensation, Lauren Babic shares, “we’re so excited to release our first single to kick off this new era for the band. “Father Said” marks a huge accomplishment for us because it’s a perfect blend of the heaviness from our album, Redeemer, and the cheekiness from our EP, Wanderer, mixed with new pop and synth elements we’ve never experimented with before. This is the most innovative sound we’ve ever achieved and the most vulnerable message we’ve ever put forth…I hope people connect to it.”
Red Handed Denial delicately balances heavy subject matter with soaring melodies. The lyrics confront the subject of toxic family members while fierce instrumentals punch through a miasma of severity. Lauren Babic’s vocals are top-notch, accompanied by magnificent instrumentals by her other band members. The first verse practically drips with seething resentment: “I used to wake up tied in chains… I could not escape my fate. Your pressure, a burden… I’ll always resent and hold you in contempt.”
The Toronto quartet, made up of Lauren Babic as the lead vocalist, Tyson Dang on the drums, Chris Mifsud on the guitar and Dominick De Krauwe on the bass, continue to captivate audiences with this hybrid. After racking up over 5 million-plus streams independently and touring with various heavy hitters, the group draw up the perfect escape plan from a world on the brink as they launch their new era.
