Poppy Ends Her “I Disagree” Era in Livestream Event

Poppy has become a post-genre phenomenon due to her latest full-length album, I Disagree; so much so that she was nominated for the “Best Metal Performance” in this year’s GRAMMY’s. As an artist paving the way for all things metal, though she claims to not be bound by any genre, she took to the livestream stage to say goodbye to the era that shifted her message as an artist in a global event on Saturday.

“The Last Disagreement” shares its bittersweet nature: the longing for the return of live shows, and to mourn the tours cut far too short to live out a proper life. As one of the people who wanted to see this album presented in person it was sweet in taste to at last see the performer onstage, even though it was merely onscreen.

Poppy theatrically entered the stage decked in buckled platform Doc Martens, thigh highs, a bodysuit and tulle skirt, and a dramatic train that trailed behind her. She looked upon the mirror at the top of the steps, before whispering into the mirror the lyrics of “Concrete” from her latest album. The electric guitar blared then, and we see firsthand the glorious contrast between Poppy’s soft pop voice, and the heavy metal instrumentals.

Throughout the performance, we repeatedly witness the ease in which she performed; easily flowing from soft, vulnerable vocals to screaming bloody murder in an instant. And with this impressive sound, she played tracks of hers new and old, all with the new spin in genre while giving the audience a taste to see the album performed who never got the chance.

Due to popular demand, the stream will be available for replays until Tuesday, April 27th. You can grab your tickets here.
