Pigeons Playing Ping Pong are a funk force to be reckoned with. The quartet from Baltimore, Maryland proved just that during their sold out 2-night run at Denver’s Ogden Theater this past weekend. Over the course of the weekend, the power-funk jam band treated fans (affectionately known as “The Flock”) to an onslaught of dancefloor anthems ranging from classic fan-favorites to new jams and even a Red Hot Chili Peppers Cover.

Along for the ride were opening bands Lespecial (11/15) and Yak Attack (11/16). Both bringing their own brand of jamtronica to the stage, the openers more than warmed up the crowd, each laying down a 60-minute set of extended jams. While Lespecial brought more high-energy rock songs to the stage, Yak Attack mesmerized the crowd with a blend of instrumental house and funk tracks.

Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, the main event, was an absolute spectacle each night. Every song was performed flawlessly. The explorative improv sections of songs were sent into oblivion, only to capsize in epic fashion. The light show and production was also top-notch, providing fans with a full, immersive experience. On Friday night, the band encored their set with their new single, “Dawn a New Day,” and concurrently announced the formation of their new charity by the same name. The Dawn a New Day Foundation will collect $1 from every show in 2020 and donate it to various organizations that are important to the band.
