Petey released a new single titled, “Did I Mention I’m Sorry,” the second track to appear on his debut album. USA will be released on September 22 and continues to gain attention and anticipation. He’s also dropped “The Freedom to F*ck Off,” continuing his take on the theme of “American values”.
Petey was in charge of production, writing his own songs in his eccentric style. Many of his fans have shared their compliments, especially towards his skits and videos that he often produces alongside his music.
It’s a fun song…There are no swear words so you can listen to it in front of small children. If you want to use the audio for a video that you made yourself whatever that may be, the audio is available to use…I just wanted you to be aware of all your options as a consumer.
– Petey
The artist chooses to keep things mellow, as he sings in a very loose and nonchalant manner. The accompaniment maintains this mood, easing on anything heavy and sticking to the guitar and drums. As for the lyrics, Petey seems to reflect on a relationship that just doesn’t work. They make each other feel horrible, do immature things and never end up apologizing for them— at least not genuinely.
I dunno why I said that
Was being sarcastic
Tryna make you feel bad
A childish tactic
That I tend to use
When I see something in you
That I hate in me– “Did I Mention I’m Sorry”
