NOTHING BUT A NIGHTMARE CALL BACK TO A TIME GONE BY WITH POIGNANT AND HARD-HITTING ALT-ROCK SINGLE “THE OLD DAYS”

In the world of alt-rock, it can often be hard to stand out unless a band has a truly unique and defined sound. And in the case of Nothing but a Nightmare and one of their latest hits, “The Old Days,” it’s hard to imagine that they’ll stand under the radar for very long. Since 2016, the Pennsylvania quartet has been building up a devoted fanbase for their distinctive throwback-meets-modern sound, which is no more evident than on “The Old Days” — and just so happens to be the closer for their just-released album, The Salvation. With Beatles-esque percussion and slide guitar, combined with theatrical and intense vocals reminiscent of Panic! at the Disco or Muse, “the Old Days” comes off as a mix of a ballad and an anthem — remembering the past while heading toward the future with heads held high. It’s the sort of track where one can find literally no flaws in its perfect highs and varied musical elements, and is sure to provide a much-needed sense of catharsis in these trying times. As Nothing but a Nightmare themselves say about the track:

“‘The Old Days’ is the last song on the album, ‘The Salvation,’ specifically because it takes a reminiscent look at all the past events discussed on the record, both good and bad, and ends up telling a sentimental story that is a follow up to a song on our last record entitled ‘Curtain.'”
