Bass queen Nostalgix comes back to reclaim her throne with the club banger “Step Back” which was released on April 28 through Tchami’s record label, Confession.

The brash, bouncy tune finds the DJ playfully commanding her opponent to step back and to allow her to do her own thing. If “I don’t give a damn” were to be a song, it would be this one as it exudes the perfect mixture of pounding bass beats and robotic effects to amplify the tune.

Nostalgix has claimed that this dance track was one of the most important pieces to date and came from a personal place.

“Step Back’ is one of the sassiest records I’ve made yet. I wanted to really embody badass energy; that you can do what you want and get what you want.

When I was writing the song, I was going through a period in my life where I had a bunch of people giving me their opinions and telling me what to do with my life and my career. And I was super over it. I just wanted to do me and be true to myself. So for me, this record is really the embodiment of “yo, there really ain’t no rules. I’ma do me, and that’s all I will do.”

I produced, wrote and rapped on the record. I’m so proud of how everything came together, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it!”

Nostalgix is originally from Iran, and she has become a forced to be reckoned with in the electronic music scene. She has broken barriers within the male-dominated genre with tracks like “Heat Rush” and “My Type” that show off her musical strength and trailblazer personality. With the release of her EP Supah Fly and a sold-out show at the Academy in Los Angeles, Nostalgix has become a staple and an inspiration for an inclusive environment for electronic artists. She is currently on her North American tour which runs until August, where her energetic sets can be enjoyed by electronic connoisseurs and music fans alike.
