New Music Friday Dance is ready to pump up the week with everything from video game sound effects to steel drums. Discover something new and inspiring:

1. Knock2, Sophia Gripari: “hold my hand”

Upcoming dance titan Knock2 joined forces with Sophia Gripari for “hold my hand.” Both the track and music video charmingly pay homage to old-style video games through sound and visuals. Knock2 continues his winning streak with this track, providing listeners with an addictive, bouncy house chorus that speaks to the soul.

2. Green Velvet, Walter Phillips: “Shake & Pop (John Summit Remix)”

Green Velvet and Walter Phillips came back with John Summit‘s remix of their track “Shake & Pop.” This melodic techno track features a super mechanic sound design, invoking a sci-fi vibe that is perfect for a night rave. The distorted vocal sample says “On the dancefloor / I feel the bass more / My body starts to jet.”

3. Gala: “Freed From Desire (2024 Version) – Diplo Edit”

Italian singer-songwriter Gala released a 2024 version of “Freed From Desire” with Diplo. This tech-house track is extremely catchy with its core looping melody of “Na”s and a lyrical motif that says “He’s got his strong beliefs.” Diplo updates and elevates the original track’s sparkle with additional tasteful builds and drops.

4. Oliver Heldens, Armin van Buuren, Sam Harper: “Freedom”

Oliver Heldens, Armin van Buuren, and Sam Harper made a powerful trio with “Freedom,” a melodic tech-house tune with bold and confident lyrics. A rich female voice sings with attitude, “You like how we get to it / I’m a bad bitch when I do it,” over rising, uptempo synths, leading into a chorus bursting with bubbly keys.

5. HUGEL, Tom Enzy: “Teke Teke”

HUGEL and Tom Enzy returned with “Teke Teke,” a Latin-Caribbean-infused dance track with a casual, laidback ambiance. The vocal sample is chopped and reinvented in several ways throughout, keeping the listener engaged and refreshed. The percussion is diverse, including the unmistakable resonance of the steel drum.
