Welcome to New Music Friday! Let’s get into some of the best releases:

1. Winona Oak: “I Broke Me First”

Swedish singer Winona Oak returns with a pensive new single, “I Broke Me First.” In the spirit of raw honesty, she admits to her self-destructive habits over a slightly scratchy, alt-pop soundscape. Her sweet voice almost distracts the listener from the seriousness of the lyrics. She sings, “I’m safer in the dark, and I don’t want no remedy.”

2. Nao: “All Of Me”

Self-proclaimed “wonky funk” singer-songwriter Nao returns with “All Of Me.” This is no ordinary R&B track; the vocal production is uniquely bubbly and layered, matching the electronic elements with ease. The lyrics are positively sensual and warm, matching the aura-like shadows behind her in the visualizer.

3. Elliot Lee, Lucky Dog: “Shy Guy”

Dark-pop artist Elliot Lee collabed with Lucky Dog for a sticky and unique track, “Shy Guy.” Immediately, her animated and bright vocal tone brings the listener into an ’80s-infused alternate reality. The electronic instrumental creates a surreal, addictive atmosphere. Hitting barely 2 minutes, it’s impossible to not hit replay.

4. Imagine Dragons, Ado: “Take Me to the Beach (feat. Ado)”

World-renowned band Imagine Dragons made a comeback with Japanese singer Ado with “Take Me to the Beach.” This is the first collaboration between the two, and it does not disappoint. A catchy descending melody and a laid-back first verse draw the listener in. The lyrics tell a story of embracing one’s individuality: “Each and to their own.”

5. Artemas: “fancy”

Alternative electronic artist Artemas is back with “fancy.” The instrumental is reminiscent of Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head,” starting of with an excellent base. Bursts of soft, layered vocals punctuate each line, adding a floaty quality to the otherwise toxic lyrics: “It’s not my fault that you keep on coming back.”
