Downtown Nashville plays a soothing tune for musicians as they announce, “Park & Play.” Read more to find out what it means!

Music for everyone usually comes at some sort of price. Whether it’s to pay to get into a festival, or you’re a musician yourself who has to pay for instrument upkeep. Regardless, someone tends to cough up money.

However, Metropolis, a park operating company, just cut out a big cost. They’ve implemented a new program, “Park & Play”, that makes parking free for Nashville musicians! This is an expansion of a program of the same name, where musicians received a 60 percent discount. However, groups decided that the discount simply wasn’t enough for Nashville talent. Thus, from August 15, they’ll be able to park for free at more than 20 downtown garages. Not only that, but these spots are specifically chosen for their proximity to music venues.

While Metropolis is the parking company, this is a joint effort. Nashville Musicians Association, the Mayor’s Office of Nightlife, and the Music Venue Alliance Nashville, aka MVAN, all also had a part to play. According to MVAN, there are two ways to register. Musicians part of the Nashville Musicians Association can obtain a QR code. For others, they must be playing at a venue part of MVAN.

While this benefits all musicians, this is especially beneficial for Nashville Broadway performers who perform regularly. They can pay from $100 to as high as $400 per month for parking. However, thankfully, with this new installment, they won’t have to worry as much and focus more on their craft.

This is a tidbit of exciting news that makes the music world just that much better. When performers are able to focus more on their craft and less on finances, it’s a win for everyone. Stay tuned for more music news!
