“Your Love Was A Gift” by Mykki Blanco is the newest song that will be followed by a full length album coming THIS fall. This new single is giving just a little taste of what’s to come from this very multitalented artist. Mykki puts their rapping skills to the side while they show off a talented raspy singing voice.

In this new single, you will hear Mykki shadowing the rising country singer Sam Buck as he takes more of the lead role. Mykki’s voice beautifully echos behind Sam’s with a new vocal flair that might surprise fans. Sam’s voice sounds like you should be at a campfire on a cool summer night. Diana Gordon also takes a vocal lead with a deep sensual voice backed up by guitar riffs and sensational symbols.

Mykki exclaimed how they felt Diana Gordon is a standout singer and songwriter, which is why they chose her to be the main vocalist on this track. Mykki acknowledged how much Diana owns this song making it heartfelt and personal.

“‘Your Love Was A Gift‘ is for me. If not the most honest, it’s the most beautiful song I’ve ever written. The idea for the song comes from my own wins and losses in the game of love and it’s a story of coming of age as much as coming to terms in adulthood with feeling unloved, yearning to be loved and yearning to be understood.”

Mykki is known to be fearless with an ability to adapt to the evolving industry. Having two striking female vocals from two different genres while putting in their own flare with rap just goes to show how versatile of an artist they are. Mykki is not only a rapper they are also a poet and an activist who has collaborated with musicians like Kanye West, Blood Orange and Teyana Taylor. “Your Love Was a Gift” is giving Fleetwood Mac mixed with Bob Marley and a little bit of church choir. All three of those genres in one song, who would have thought? It is very different and different is good. We always need artist to keep us on our toes while keeping the music industry fresh.

Mykki has continued to thrive since their last mini-album Broken Heart and Beauty Sleep released via Transgressive Record. This album helped Mykki step into their new chapter and recognize their full potential.
