On October 8, alt-pop singer and songwriter Mothica revealed her new imprint label, Heavy Heart Records, which is in partnership with Rise Records and BMG. Besides the announcement, the singer revealed a new version of the titular song, “Heavy Heart.” This announcement precedes the release of Mothica’s new album, which will be a first release on Heavy Heart Records.

When asked to speak about her new label, Mothica states, “[Because] I’ve been an independent artist for six years, doing everything from booking my own shows, emailing press outlets, editing videos, designing and shipping my merch, and setting up every session or interview, I felt very hesitant to let anyone in and wasn’t sure if I’d do well following someone else’s schedule and vision. Just by asking my fans to help support. I realized how much ownership and autonomy mean to me, and that I’d rather build something that felt truly mine.  So, when I was finishing my second album, I had more conversations about starting my own imprint record label so that I still have the creative freedom that I thrive on.”

Mothica first made her breakthrough in 2020 with viral hit song “Vices,” which resonated strongly with her fanbase and garnered over a million views on the music video alone. Her emotional vulnerability in confronting difficult topics such as mental health and trauma continued to shine through in her recent single, “forever fifteen.” With over 200 million global streams across her catalog, a recent headlining appearance on Lollapalooza’s BMI stage, and collaborations with artists like nothing, nowhere., Royal & the Serpent, and MEMBA, Mothica is sure to finish the year swinging.
