Moon Tooth Release Music Video for “Grip on the Ridge” and Announce Upcoming Show

New York based progressive metal band Moon Tooth recently released a music video for their song “Grip on the Ridge.” Despite the music video just coming out, the song has been around for a while, appearing on the band’s studio album Photographs. Photographs was the last studio album that the band released, putting it on streaming platforms in May 2022.

Moon Tooth consists of vocalist John Carbone, guitar player Nick Lee, drummer Ray Marte, and bass player Vincent Romanelli. The Long Island outfit have released three studio albums, beginning with Metal Injection and ending with Photograph. Moon Tooth have received widespread critical acclaim from outlets such as Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. Their 2019 album Crux ended up on both publications’ best albums of the year list.

“Grip on the Ridge” is a song about how reality can creep up on you. How all of a sudden you are an adult and plagued by regret, trauma and responsibilities. How it seemed like just yesterday that you were a kid but now you are filled with troubles and worries.

The music video sees the band in what appears to be the ruins of a long-abandoned building. The filter on the video makes the music video slightly blurry and washed over. It is similar to the videos a lot of the metal and nu metal groups of the early 2000s would push out.

As well as releasing a new music video, Moon Tooth also announced a new upcoming show. The show is set to take place on May 20th and marks the band’s first show following guitarist Nick’s bout with Limbic Encephalitis. Nick was diagnosed around May of last year and spent a majority of the last few months receiving treatment and ultimately beating the brain disease. The show will take place at The Brooklyn Monarch.

“The way myself and the rest of Moon Tooth see this situation is we could hide from the mystery brain disease for another six months, a year, six years; or we could face it directly this Spring and do what we do best, which is play a killer live show alongside some of our best friends,”
