Maisie Peters Drops “Two Weeks Ago” Ahead of Album’s Release
Maisie Peters reveals another song for her upcoming sophomore album, The Good Witch. The release of “Two Weeks Ago” follows that of other singles like “Lost the Breakup” and “Body Better,” which will also appear on the tracklist.
“Two Weeks Ago” starts off soft with piano chords. The melody is simple and almost repetitive, like a lullaby. Peters’ voice, her lyrics and the instrumentation all fit well, conveying the wishes and wants of returning to the good part of a relationship. This feeling builds toward the chorus and throughout, as does the song.
The singer-songwriter describes all these moments, some of which she looks back on regretfully for not saying something or doing more. Yet, the tone is rather accepting and calm.
God, I wish it was two weeks ago
When you said we’re like your mom and dad
And you loved me, babe, when you told me that
And the song was true and the sky was black

these songs feel like spells, some of them manifestations, some of them hexes and curses and charms of protection for myself and my friends – it’s my pen, my book, and you are all my coven. this album contains my great, my bad, my ugly; it is the truest reflection of my life this past year, and i hope you see that. the good witch era begins.
