Lewis Capaldi Drops Heart-Wrenching New Single, “Pointless” for Upcoming Sophomore Album

Lewis Capaldi has done it again with his new single, “Pointless” that he shared last month, and – we’re not crying, you’re crying. The Grammy-award nominated singer-songwriter beautifully captures the pure kind of love we’re all searching for with his genuine poetic lyricism and delicate piano backdrop. A glimpse of the lyrics will leave you in a puddle on the floor, and it’s only the beginning of the song:

“I bring her coffee in the morning / She brings me inner peace / I take her out to fancy restaurants / She takes the sadness out of me / I make her cards on her birthday / She makes me a better man / I take her water when she’s thirsty / She takes me as I am”

Ironically, the song is titled “Pointless,” though each line of the lyrics are pointed and intentional with every word. It’s no surprise that Ed Sheeran and Lewis Capaldi were two of the four collaborators in the songwriting process, as they both have profoundly sentimental and emotionally adept music. Notably, the chorus seems to be the least poignant of the lyrics, as the rest of the verses are so incredibly detailed and hit you to your core. Capaldi talks about the writing process with Sheeran and notes,

“Ed had that lyric, ‘I bring her coffee in the morning, she brings me inner peace,’ and pretty much every other line of that opening was just banging”

Be ready to have tissues nearby and your heart bursting with love when you hear the entire song… Capaldi brings all the emotions to this one. On top of that, he released the music video which is even more heart-wrenchingly beautiful. It’s not your typical “boy meets girl” video, though it does involve a special relationship.
