All the bad in the world seems to stack up. It’s overwhelming and, quite frankly, infuriating. Alt-rock artist JEEN talks about what happens when it’s impossible to keep coping and all that’s left is anger. Her September 6 single, “Making Me Mad,” brings a confrontational tone and catharsis for all those who will belt this banger right alongside her.
You don’t have to tell me
Cause I thought it by myself
If I was younger
I’d try harder
But you’re making me mad~ “Making Me Mad”
Co-produced by Ian Blurton (Cowboy Junkies, A Neon Rome, Change of Heart), “Making Me Mad” encapsulates the exasperation of a constant stream of bad news surrounding you. A steady percussive beat supports the song as JEEN’s vocals build and build in power, anger mounting and electric guitar work picking up. Her indignance is palpable in the passion of her voice. It becomes all too much to bear: “Now I just don’t care,” JEEN sings.

This is the second single off JEEN’s fourth LP, Gold Control, due later this year. JEEN said listeners can expect a blend of grunge, garage, psych-rock, punk, and even a bit of shoegaze. The already released single “Just Shadows,” also off the LP, gave us a taste of the glorious tracks to come.
