LAV.ISH Explain Why It’s Important To “Take Your Time”
A smooth flow, catchy hook, and great energy make up the track “Take Your Time,” one of the latest singles from hip-hop group LAV.ISH. Fans of OutKast, Smino, and Post Malone will love the dream-like and almost shoegaze-esque vibe of “Take Your Time,” especially with its melodic flows. The vocals on the track make the listener feel like they’re floating on the waves of the music, followed by rap verses creating a dynamic sound.
The song is about following one’s own path and doing what is right for them, even if the people around them disagree. This message is emphasized in the repetition of singing the lyrics, “Don’t let no one say that you’re wrong/ Take your time/ And do it the right way/ Fuck ’em o think that they know/ Everything about them is lightweight/ Caught up in some shit that doesn’t matter/ Don’t trip/ The sun has set another day/ Don’t let no one say that you’re wrong/ Take your time/And do it the right way.” Despite the more laidback nature of the track, “Take Your Time” holds a message of empowerment, along with reassuring the listener that no matter what anyone says, it’s important to do things “the right way” for themselves, not based on what society says is “the right way.”

From Los Angeles, California, LAV.ISH comprises vocalists Carl and Nim, along with producers Lucas and Brandon. The name LAV.ISH means a lot to the band, especially the dot in the middle of their name,
“Please don’t forget the dot in the middle, it’s more than your average dot. DOT stands for Don’t OverThink. It represents [our] attention to detail and coexistence with imperfection.”
The band released their first single, “Pass It Around,” in 2018, followed by their albums, With A Dot In The Middle (2018), and Lost & Found (2020), along with numerous singles. “Take Your Time” is the 10th track of their third album, Another Good Day.
