The frontwoman of the electro-pop band CHVRCHES, Lauren Mayberry, brings us a brand new version of album favorite “Sorry, Etc, Etc” featuring Joe Talbot from her solo debut album Vicious Creature.
Since the age of 15 years old, she has been in different bands and has enjoyed massive success with CHVRCHES. Now, Mayberry’s solo debut album Vicious Creature marks a completely new era for her. The culmination of two decades with CHVRCHES is her biggest effort yet to push her creative boundaries further than ever. It unlocks joy and theatricality like none of her previous works. The album deals with the topics of sexuality, as well as empowerment from a very personal perspective.
In reference to Vicious Creature Mayberry states,
“So much of this process has been an exercise in empowering myself to listen to my own intuition – something I really trained myself out of. That’s ultimately why you start making things – because you felt a feeling, and you wanted to articulate that somehow. I think it was important for me to relearn that kind of independence and recognize what I bring to any table I choose to sit at.”

About the inspirations for her album she says,
“Especially when it came to the visuals for the album, I knew I wanted them to be a part of the storytelling in a way I haven’t been able to do previously. I wanted to have an ownership over my physical self and how I was involved in the visual part of the storytelling, so I felt like I was in the driving seat of the aesthetic rather than fitting into a landscape that wasn’t really for me.”

The new version of “Sorry, Etc, Etc” turns the beloved album favorite into a potent duet with Joe Talbot. Talbot’s powerful vocals, combined with those of Mayberry elevate the song to new heights. Their chemistry and the way their voices compliment each other turn the original’s energy up to 200.
About the new version of “Sorry, Etc, Etc” Mayberry says,
“If you know me, you know how much I love Idles, so it really is an honor to have reinterpreted this song with Joe. We first connected during Covid when I did his Balley TV YouTube series, and have been quietly supportive of each other from the wings since. I messaged Joe last summer about working together and this is the song we decided on. We recorded his vocals in December at Brighton Electric when Idles had a night off on tour. I re-recorded my (screamier) vocals at home before Christmas with Sam Stewart, and was produced by my friend Paul Gallagher.”

With her first full length solo project out, Lauren Mayberry is rocking the music world once again. The new version of “Sorry, Etc, Etc” already sets the world aflame and we can’t wait for more. While Mayberry has concluded her Vicious Creature North America tour, new shows are just around the corner. Don’t miss out on her upcoming shows at The Fillmore and Bottlerock Festival in May of this year.
