Lana Lubany’s New EP Takes Us To ‘THE HOLY LAND’

Alt-pop singer-songwriter Lana Lubany graced us with her new EP, THE HOLY LAND. The Palestinian-American is known for her bilingual lyrics and viral hit, “THE SNAKE,” which launched Lubany’s fame via TikTok in early 2022.

“THE SNAKE” is the first track on the EP, representing the rise to fame Lubany experienced due to that song going viral online. The song features Lubany’s now-iconic bilingual lyrics, switching between English and Arabic throughout the track. The artist took a risk by including bilingual lyrics in her songs, but that risk is what has led to her success.

“A couple years ago I didn’t have much going for me. So, it was kind of out of desperation. I needed to do something different.”

By doing something different, Lubany has created a name for herself. The second single off the album, “SOLD,” switches gears into a more classic pop vibe. The song is pretty much made for radio play, with a catchy hook and rhythmic bass line that is destined to get stuck in your head. Lubany obviously puts her own spin onto the genre, adding heavy synthesizers and Spanish guitars to make the song entirely unique.

The third single released from the EP was “CLONES,” which combines that acoustic guitar with an incredibly groovy beat, making the song perfect to dance along to. “POINT OF NO RETURN” is a much slower song, straying from the pop genre and into a gorgeous ballad. Lubany lets her vocals shine on the track, floating above the guitar riff.

The album ends with “ON MY WAY,” a song that describes Lubany’s process of creating the album and where she’s headed next. She even references how she almost gave up on her music career until “THE SNAKE” came along, saving her career. The lyrics are incredibly inspiring, showing us that Lana Lubany is truly “on her way” to stardom.

THE HOLY LAND is a concept album through and through, born out of the desire for Lubany to connect several aspects of her life. Each song effortlessly flows into the next, telling a story of self-discovery through the 8 tracks.

“It’s about internal battles. I wanted to call it THE HOLY LAND because I personally ended up finding my identity in my roots, but it could be anybody’s holy land. It can be whatever you find sacred and wherever you end up finding yourself. It’s not about religious symbolism, it’s about a personal journey.”
