A rising act in the heavy music scene throughout the United Kingdom, Lake Malice share what seems to be their most aggressive track yet.

Since 2021, Lake Malice unleashed a string of innovatively heavy alt-anthems for a post-pandemic world. The releases include this year’s “Bloodbath” and “Stop The Party,” which will also appear on the forthcoming EP, Post Genesis. The band has hit the road with the likes of Bloodywood, Vukovi, and Enter Shikari, and are gearing up for dates throughout the rest of fall.

“Mitsuko” charges forth throughout in introduction with a fast paced drum and bass beat and a crisp few lines of vocals. The words “where have you been?” add the first spark to the song’s message as the song continues to ramp up in pace. The vocals then transition into an emotionally charged scream as an electric guitar roars into the ears. The chorus’s main hook “This is not about you, it’s everything you make me go through,” echo throughout the chorus.

Throughout the chorus, all the seemingly unlike elements combine into a heart-wrenching performance. The band members comment on the song’s personal message:

“Mitsuko” is a deeply personal and intense torrent of ‘full-on rage’, dealing with the complexities of family values, and raw emotions of a fragmented childhood. The title takes inspiration from the original ‘Battle Royale’ manga, where the character Mitsuko shares a similar struggle of family heartbreak and abandonment.

With a message many can relate to, this track creates a space for catharsis and release, both in its production and throughout the lyrics. You can’t help but long to repeat this track again and again until the words help those un-expressed feelings find a home.

This band is up to some big things in their future. With a tour around the EU and UK in 2023, it’s only a matter of time until the United States, and the rest of the world, too, witnesses their energy live.
