Kristin Sesselja is a singer-songwriter born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland. Music has always been a big part of her life and from a young age, she has written songs with intimate lyrics and catchy melodies that often provide insight into the lives of people Kristin’s age.
In addition to performing music for many years, Kristin has been active on YouTube, creating vlogs about her life. Recently, Kristin signed a distribution deal with AWAL, which distributes music for musicians such as FINNEAS, Lauv, Thom Yorke, and Girl in red. Last summer, she released four singles that have charted in national radio stations.
Her upcoming EP, titled Breakup Blues, will be released on October 23rd of 2020.
As a songwriter who admittedly loves writing about heartbreak, Kristin’s latest single, “W.A.I.S.T.D,” plays on this. As a female in the music industry, she and many others who write about their love life tend to be asked in interviews, “What will you write about once they find happiness, and are no longer heartbroken?” Kristin toys with what she would say in response to the question in this track, combining that love for writing of heartache with her current relationship and the love for the new person in her life. This concept creates an anthem track for those who are falling love when all they’ve become used to is hurt and ripped apart. In this, when falling in love, there’s an anxiety in trusting the new person, and a defining moment that determines the next step and overcoming the fear in being hurt for the sake of finding something real and deep.
