Dirt Monkey and Shank Aaron have come together to release a new energetic titled “Kooks of Hazard.” The track is dubstep at its core but takes a little bit of each artist’s color to create something entirely new.
Me and [Shank Aaron] named our collab track “Kook of Hazard” cause we’re both extremely (not) good at skating & surfing.
– Dirt Monkey
DJ and producer Dirt Monkey has taken the lead on forward-thinking electronic music in almost every way. Showing off his skills in sound design, his releases continue to push and expand the limits of the genre.
Shank Aaron is equally notable, making a mark in bass music. Within the scene, he’s been creating his own sound and style, coming up with tracks that are diverse and definitive.
The song starts with a mechanic, underground kind of rumbling. This pulsates and echoes for a few measures. Soon, a new rhythm comes in, soon followed by an arpeggio of chimes. To top it off, a voice begins to chant. All of this intensifies, exploding into a playful arrangement.
It doesn’t stop there. There’s a bit of an interlude that features a fun buzzing sound (think of something between a trumpet and a bazooka) that occasionally glitches. All this keeps listeners on their toes, keeping their attention and anticipation high.
Dirt Monkey and Shank Aaron both are big names, ones that can be seen on almost every festival lineup. Fans who follow them will know that they appear at the biggest and best. Dirt Monkey is headlining with Jantsen at the Red Rock Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. Shank Aaron, on the other hand, is slated to perform at the Lost Lands Festival in Legend Valley, Ohio. Check out tickets, and also make sure to follow both the musicians on Spotify.
