Kelly Clarkson Releases New Single In Preparation for Explosive Album
Kelly Clarkson released a new single titled ‘Favorite Kind of High’ set to be featured on her upcoming album Chemistry. The song seems to tackle the beginning stages of a relationship following meeting someone new. Clarkson has hinted that the upcoming album would be inspired, for better lack of word, by her recent divorce from Brandon Blackstock.
The song is upbeat, with an addictive chorus line that mirrors the lyrics Clarkson sings over it. “You’re my favorite kind of high/Rushin’ through me like fire/And I need you to know,” Clarksons declares as she provides powerful vocals reminiscent of her early music. Clarkson proves she’s still got it 21 years into her superstar career. Clarkson first got her start after becoming the first winner of the hit singing competition Americal Idol.
Clarkson also released a live performance video on her official Youtube channel, where she spoke briefly about the inspirations behind the new single. “I wanted it to be about the whole relationship… There’s nothing like that high when you first see someone, and you’re like, ‘Oh, s**t,” she told the crowd.
Clarkson described ‘favorite kind of high’ as a ‘sexy-ass song’ and comes after the double drop of ‘mine’ and ‘me’ which are also featured on the 14-track album Chemistry.
Having chemistry with someone is an incredible, and overwhelming, feeling. It’s like you have no choice in the matter. You are just drawn to each other. This can be good and bad. This album takes you down every path that chemistry could lead you down.

Clarkson went on The Today Show to promote the upcoming album, where she explained that one or two emotions could not describe it. “This album is definitely the arc of an entire relationship,” she said. “And a whole relationship shouldn’t be just brought down to one thing. So there’s the good, the bad and the ugly kind of thing going on in it.”
Stream ‘favorite kind of high’ available on all streaming platforms, and preorder Chemistry set to be released on June 23.
