In solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement and in honor of Black History Month, we present to you the playlist Juneteenth Jigs, a collection of songs celebrating black culture, highlighting afro-roots, and encouraging black empowerment.
With the news of Juneteeth becoming an officially recognized holiday in Philadelphia, we’re seeing massive moments of change for brighter days and a more colorful world. Let’s remember that we don’t need the government to grant permission to celebrate the beautiful diversity in this country and around the world.
Keep doing the work. Keep listening, learning and educating. Keep having those hard conversations. Keep spreading love and empathy. If you’re just starting, take a look at our comprehensive list of suggested literature, television and music to educate and familiarize yourself with black culture.
