Following the release of her vibrant lead single “Holding On,” Jayli Wolf returns with the transformative production of “Blood Orange.” The JUNO-nominated Canadian and indigenous singer-songwriter ascends boundaries. Her passions in poetry, acting, and queer activism shine through in her complex work. These tracks precede her highly anticipated sophomore EP God Is An Endless Mirror, out September 22nd. Wolf has also released a music video for “Blood Orange,” bringing the powerful anthem to life. It is a brilliant window into Wolf’s honor for human resilience, resonating with those who have faced oppressors and found courage within.
From the first frame, the “Blood Orange” music video is dark, digital, and alluring. The vocals cut in with an immediate roughness, happening in tandem with a swinging hammer in the video. The tone is sly and gravelly, cutting to a variety of film reels laced with orange, red, black, and white. Paced over an acoustic guitar, some reels move slower than others, creating a visual fluidity that plays on multiple elements of the song. The film flickers between herself, fruit, the forest, burning, and movement. Some of these reels play is slow motion, which connects with the gentle instruments, while the burning, quicker visuals match her waning voice. Lyrically provocative, the scenes get juicier as the song breaks down into deeper emotions. The entire project is wicked smart, stimulating to watch and deeply satisfying to hear.
“I wanted this song to boldly confront the themes of control, oppression, and societal standards, while also illuminating the courage to break free and reclaim one’s narrative.‘Blood Orange’ is a poignant testament to the indomitable spirit of those who have faced adversity, encouraging resilience, healing, and the liberation that comes from telling one’s story.”

Wolf’s upcoming EP expands on the themes that reside in “Holding On” and “Blood Orange,” following threads of spirituality and awakening, loving yourself and healing. The EP will be released via ALT EDEN, Jayli’s own label. Fusing folk and electronic alternative styles, fans are eager to witness the experimental record this fall. The rising star’s debut EP, Wild Whisperer initially drew in a large audience from the intense story that unfurled within, depicting the colonial genocide her family endured by the Canadian Government, removing her from parts of her identity she cherished most. The honest tracks were highly revered, as Rolling Stones called her music “a crossover between Phantogram, Crystal Castles, and Chvrches.” Her critically acclaimed prowess is living proof that you can find your truth despite a tumultuous past.
“While I was writing this EP, I just kept feeling like there was more I needed to be tapping into,” Jayli continues. “Every song was about losing my mind, barely holding on, and feeling lost. As I reflected on that I realized that I needed a massive change in my life. I stepped back from acting and bought my childhood farm. Then the music began to shift too – into more resolve, more faith and power. And so there is both music from during the shift and after in this EP. And I am excited for what is to come now.”
