Let Jaws of You bring you down an alternative rock lane filled with the intoxicating and addicting feeling of “Automatic” reactions when you’re missing a former someone. The lead single off of his brand new EP, titled Hyper Fix, “Automatic” serves as a gusty introduction to the new alt/pop solo project that is Jaws of You.

Based out of Boston, Jaws of You is fronted by vocalist Anthony Rainville. Taking cues from artists like Jimmy Eat World, Phoebe Bridgers, and The 1975, Jaws is making loud, heartfelt music that speaks to his years of songwriting and being in touring bands, with all the requisite highs and lows. “Automatic” was released in July 2021 and served not only as his debut single, but also the lead into his 7-song EP which was released earlier this month. Prior to Jaws, Anthony spent time performing with the likes of All Time Low and PVRIS, touring with You Me AndEveryone We Know, The Spill Canvas, and We Are The In Crowd, amassing over a million song streams.

Vibrant guitar strums echo amongst each other as the song gives way to crooning vocals that illustrate the knee-jerk automatic feelings when you’re sifting through previous memories. The lyrics are ambiguous enough that the subject of the lines is open for interpretation, but the relatable feeling that the vocals strung over the soft rock intsrumental calls forth is resounding. The soundscape conjurs up the duplicitous desires to do away with these automatic memories and associated feelings, while also wanting to recall happier times and allowing yourself to get lost within those dreams. A final sense of nostalgia is experience in the final verse before entering the roaring chorus that ties together the verses, giving the track a crescendo that feels aligned with bittersweet frustration.
