Some familiar faces from our favorite alternative rock groups have come together to form Fuckin Whatever. This is Anthony Green of Circa Survive, Adam Lazzara and John Nolan of Taking back Sunday, and additional percussion from Benjamin Homola of Grouplove. This fluid project was born of longtime friendships and late nights on the road. On one particular night these restless rockstars began an impromptu backstage instrument-less jam session, using just their voices and and percussive stomps. Little did they know at the time, everyone’s new favorite music group was born.
“Original Sin” is one song of five on their self-title debut EP. It is an organic sounding track with claps, world percussion instruments, and echoey overlapping vocals from which you can feel some previously unspoken angst exuding. They say they even recorded some tracks in bathrooms, including the legendary tunnel between the stage and sound booth at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Colorado, so what to expect from the rest of the EP? Take a listen for yourself and find out!
Lazzara shares, “It’s pretty much 80% mouth noises and 20% Ben slapping things around the house.”
