Interview with Francesca Lombardo of Desert Hearts: Exploring Nature through Music
With the highly anticipated return of Desert Hearts Festival, and the celebration of the label’s 10th anniversary, we are excited to share an interview with Francesca Lombardo, who finally is making her way back to the festival after having played at the first edition. The DJ and live performer has cultivated a sound of her own via an emotional narrative of dreamy soundscapes, stirring melodies, and hypnotic rhythms. She’s played monumental shows including IMS Dalt Villa, Burning Man, Tomorrowland, Get Lost, Resistance, Circoloco as well as The Royal Albert Hall.

In tandem, Francesca has built up a formidable back-catalogue of music on esteemed labels: Crosstown Rebels, Mobilee, Leftroom, Poker Flat, Bedrock, and her own Echoe and Echolette imprints amongst others. Entering a new phase of her career, Francesca unveiled her critically acclaimed debut album Life Of Leaf in 2019, a collection of forward-thinking, powerful songs and made from the heart. Francesca recently launched her “Life of Releaf” campaign which seeks to motivate the music industry into supporting global reforestation. Francesca Lombardo’s work isn’t just art alone, but a powerful statement to the world.
In the interview, we discuss her deep appreciation and love of nature along with her long-standing experience with DJing ; these two parts of herself that she shares through her music, oftentimes leading to two sounds that are different, but similar in that they reflect her. And of course, we talk about the return of Desert Hearts Festival, which is happening this weekend! You can watch the full interview below.
