Indie-Folk Artist Collin Bartley Releases Melodic Single “Track & Field”

Independent indie-folk artist Collin Bartley recently released his single “Track & Field” this past February -marking his second release of 2022. The second official release from the singer-songwriter has now amassed nearly 20,000 streams on Spotify -making it his most popular release of the year.

The song itself gravitates towards the indie-folk genre, with simple but poignant lyricism and production. “Track & Field” is unique in the sense that it borders various genres that you would not necessarily expect to coexist together. Bartley does an excellent job of curating and unifying these genres to create a cohesive, professional project. “Track & Field” begins slowly, with only guitar and very light bass to introduce the vibe of the song. Bartley’s soothing vocals are introduced at about 15 seconds in, solidifying the gentle energy that persists throughout the track. At about 35 second into the track, more elements are skillfully layered into the production -giving it more of a soft pop feel. The guitar becomes a bit more complex, as does Bartley’s vocal performance. The single makes it a point to have minimal percussion, centering the focus of the song on Bartley’s vocal and acoustic performance. At around 1:00, the chorus picks up the overall energy of the track -adding a cheerful beat to the production.

Overall, “Track & Field” by Collin Bartley is an optimistic, sweet and simple song that you could easily listen to for hours. The layered elements and gradual incline and decline of energy are revealed more and more with every listen. Bartley is not only an excellent songwriter and musician, but a performer as well. He plans to continue to release a single for every month of 2022, so keep an eye out for the talented artist’s upcoming projects.

If you want to keep up with Collin Bartley and his new releases, you can check him out on major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
