Icona Pop and Galantis Collab on “I Want You”
Icona Pop and Galantis join forces on “I Want You”, a synth driven dance pop tune. The single is expected to be one of the songs on a future upcoming Icona Pop album. The album is still currently said to be under production, with the Swiss duo still working on it.
Galantis is the stage name of Swedish producer Christian Karlsson. Galantis used to be a duo but soon reverted into being a solo act in 2017. Galantis first gained international traction with their song “Runaway (U & I)” in 2014. They would also achieve success with their songs “Peanut Butter Jelly” and “No Money”.
Icona Pop are a Swedish duo, best known for their smash hit “I Love It” with pop sensation Charli XCX. Icona Pop consists of Caroline Hjelt and Aino Jawo, both of whom were born and raised in Stockholm, before eventually moving to Los Angeles. Their music consists of elements of electro pop, indie and dance.
“I Want You” is a synth driven dance pop hit. The bass drives the song forward until the beat drops. It is a song that could be played at the club yet also one you could put on while just dancing by yourself in your room. The lyrics are straightforward and discuss the feelings that come about when you develop an attraction for someone. The narrator in the song is being blunt with their feelings for this person and does not want to waste any time playing any mind games.
“I Want You” is a song off of Icona Pop’s upcoming album. The duo began to work on a new album during the pandemic. With the world enforcing lockdown, Icona Pop returned to Sweden where they began to fall back in love with the core elements of their music.
“We got back to what we love,” Aino affirms. “It was the quietest period we’ve
experienced in ten-plus years, so it’s crazy we made such danceable music. We felt the
need to do something more up-tempo.”
