Victoria Monét and jaguars are more synonymous than ever.
To what exactly do we define a jaguar? Most interpretations would be a genus of the large cat family, a resident of Central America, or maybe by its distinguishable crushing bite. Victoria has challenged this notion and presented us with a different answer with her autumnal smash release, Jaguar II.
JAGUAR, the concept is coming out of that shy place and behind the bushes and behind, you know, the rubbish and just like jumping into the light, and like getting and commanding what you want.

Victoria Monét may have been a familiar name to you within producer credits. Akin to a jaguar, Victoria Monét has been working behind the scenes with several household names. Some of these names include, but are not limited to, Ariana Grande, Nas, Blackpink, Travis Scott, and Chloe x Halle. She can also be known from her 2019 duet single, alongside best friend Ariana Grande, “Monopoly.”
Before her gradual rise as the artist we know and love, the Jaguar-personified moved to Los Angeles in 2008 to follow her dreams of becoming a singer. She was originally signed under Motown to debut in a girl group under the direction of Darkchild, a legendary rapper and producer. This plan regrettably fell through and to continue following her passion for music, she decided to pursue songwriting until her next opportunity arose. This led to her early beginnings of being a jaguar, prowling unseen and waiting for the moment to finally pounce.
Jaguar II, the second iteration of her previous album Jaguar, has seemingly propelled her into superstardom. Fresh off the heels of winning her first two Grammys for the record as mentioned earlier, her career has seen a revitalization from years prior. No longer is she staying behind the bushes as she states, but rather, basking in the sun.
Jaguar and Jaguar II are Monét’s magnum opus currently, showing her comfort in the 70’s lush soundscape she explores in both records. After the commercial success of EP Jaguar, Monét embarked on the newest task of her career: her debut album. Jaguar II was originally planned to be her sixth EP, continuing a plan of trilogies for the Jaguar family, but was eventually decided to make Jaguar II a combination of the remaining two EPs. This plan was then accompanied by the voyage of Victoria Monét’s debut tour, aptly named: The Jaguar Tour.
Currently, Victoria is enjoying her well-deserved moment in the limelight. You can keep up with Victoria on her Spotify, YouTube, and Instagram.
