Hemlocke Springs Takes Us To “heavun” On New Track
Hemlocke Springs has graced us once again with a new release, taking us to our own little version of heaven with her new single, “heavun.” Springs really leans into the synth-pop genre with this new track and takes inspiration from classic 80s music to create a brand new hit.
Hemlocke Springs, or Isimeme “Naomi” Udu, may be a relatively new artist, with all of her songs being released within the past year, but she’s definitely not new to making viral music. The artist has had two songs blow up on TikTok, and all four of her previous releases have over a million streams on Spotify. Her biggest hits include “gimme all ur luv,” which was praised by Grimes on TikTok, and “girlfriend,” which helped Hemlocke become the starlet she is today.
“gimme all ur luv” is the song that helped Hemlocke Springs gain traction in the first place, with a short clip going viral on TikTok and receiving over one million views. After that release, Naomi teased another new single, “girlfriend,” by posting a video with the bridge of the song, calling it the “weirdest bridge you’ll ever hear in your entire life”. The video immediately blew up, receiving 5.8 million views and 1 million likes. The song has since gained over 27 million streams on Spotify, and peaked at #22 on NZ Hot’s charts.
After two viral songs and two other smash hits, Naomi continues to prove herself on “heavun.” The new single definitely has a strong 1980s influence and the opening is almost reminiscent of Kim Wilde’s “Kids in America”. The song absolutely belongs in a movie, whether it be a classic teen movie or even a science fiction setting.
However, Naomi isn’t just a musician or artist. She just finished her master’s degree in medical informatics at Dartmouth, making her one of the coolest scientists and coolest pop stars I’ve ever heard of. Her poppy beats combined with incredible lyricism creates a kind of music that is unparalleled.
“Heaven only knows how I’ve longed for you / waiting for years so blue / said goodbye to my virtue / while the minute hand ticked off my youth / but a girl should never share her truth.”

Hemlocke Springs will be making her festival debut this summer at Lollapalooza in Chicago and will also be performing at Pitchfork Music Festival in Berlin in November. She will be headlining her own show in London at Hoxton Colors this November, which you can get tickets to here. Hemlocke Springs is definitely an artist to watch, as she may soon become one of the biggest artists of our time.
