Hello Shannon is an indie/alternative pop project from Dallas, TX that brings together electronic elements with organic live instrumentation and a focus on vocal layering and production. The project was started in 2014 by lead vocalist and main songwriter Shannon Camacho, along with her husband and producer Jonathan Camacho. They expanded to touring as a full band at festivals, intimate settings, and internationally. Their first full length album, “Wander”, was released in October 2018.

Their newest single, “Sound of Sleeping”, is out now and is meant to sound like how insomnia feels. The duo beautifully capture the chaotic rise and fall of a night of sleeplessness through the vocal and electronic production.

The backtrack starts off with light, equally distanced acoustic strumming before transitioning into a deeper rush of percussive elements that manage to be simultaneously airy and tumultuous. The star of this song is the beautifully haunting vocal performance by Shannon. Her masterful control over her range and vibrato is enchanting and breathes more life into an already stunning masterpiece. The instrumentals never overtake the vocals, but instead, perfectly complement the crescendos and decrescendos scattered throughout the song.

This song, written, produced, and mixed by the Camachos in their home studio and mastered by John Greenham, is truly reflective of the rise and fall of insomnia. You can listen to it below.
