Hazlett Shares Folk Hit “Blame The Moon”

Contrasting vast waves of nostalgia with ballroom folk, HAZLETT bloomed in Sweden after traveling as a modern-day nomad, collecting stories for the project’s big vision. You cannot sense this love for storytelling more than in their latest single, “Blame The Moon,” out as of June 20th.

A pocket full of nerves and a tangled mess of memories became the start of Hazlett’s unique brand of “Indie Ballroom Folk”. But everything crystallized one summer in Stockholm after finding the fabled collaborator chemistry in now close friend Freddy Alexander. A lot has changed since then and what started as a way for him to “figure out some things in his head…” has now become a whole world of music and beautiful details to move through.

Read Hazlett’s thoughts on the track below:

The easiest thing in the world is to think it’s something else’s fault. The grand plans, the set backs, the lowlights, they have a tendency to slowly take their toll. Even though you know deep down the universe isn’t out to get you, there’s a strange relief found in leaning on an excuse. It’s not a perfect remedy and it’s one hell of a bad habit to break, but on those days when you just don’t have the fight in you anymore it can be the thing to get us by.

 ~ HAZLETT

“Blame The Moon” is a folk masterpiece. With its highly emotive undertones, the acoustic guitar paves the way for a raw storytelling lyrical production and a raw vocal performance. With a full length LP on the way and plans to take the stage again, it’s becoming clear Hazlett is weaving his way to something bigger.

Listen to “Blame The Moon,” available on streaming platforms.
