Float Along to Sibéri’s New Single “Île Flottante”
French artist Sibéri released his newest single since 2021, called “Île Flottante” — meaning floating island. The song plays on Sibéri’s love of multicultural influences, with a tropical beat that blends seamlessly with his French background. “Île Flottante” is Sibéri’s gateway to summer, preceding his upcoming EP that will be released in September.
After spending some time in Russia and developing a love for traditional folk music, Sibéri began his career in music producing, incorporating these traditional sounds into his music. It is evident in his work that he has a deep and multi-faceted musical knowledge, being prolific in instruments such as the guitar, omnichord, and zither. His most recent musical influence took place on his trip to Indonesia and the development of a new fascination with traditional Indonesian music. This produced his most recent EP, called Indonési, which he released in 2021. Now based in Berlin, Sibéri has established himself as a lover of multicultural sounds, while still staying true to his French roots.
Sibéri opens with a light and tropical sound, interlaid with a stronger bass beat. Each element has a warm and summery feel, perfect for the start of the season. French words are spoken over the balearic beat by Sibéri’s grandfather, quickly transforming into a slower, more synthy and emotional buildup that eventually culminates once again in the beginning’s airy percussion. He recently released a music video to go along with the single, featuring various pieces of 8mm film from his family’s archives edited together to create a psychedelic visual accompaniment. Each element solidifies Sibéri’s distinct sound and range of influences, as well as simply being a perfect summer opener.
Stay tuned for the release of the rest of his EP, and enjoy this single as a tropical taste of what’s to come.
