Exclusive Interview: Chatting with Winona Oak & Facing “Old Insecurities”

Today, Winona Oak unveils her next single, “Old Insecurities.” Born on a remote island in Sweden, the singer-songwriter has embraced the sunny weather of LA where she is now based, and has worked on collaborative projects with big names in EDM such as The Chainsmokers and What So Not.

The new single pushes the envelope as Winona’s most vulnerable track to date. “I feel like that’s always the case with each new one,” she states in our interview. Depicting the struggles through her mental health journey over the last year in isolation and lockdown, the track blends elements that will send one dancing on their feet along with a relatability and deeper connection with struggles of their own.

In April, I talked with her about her upbringing, writing music in quarantine, and the little meanings in her new single. The full interview is available on our Patreon. Check it out here!

Along with Winona’s new single, she dropped an ethereal music video that intertwines beautifully with the rediscovery of the childlike self in silk tent forts and dancing through the wide open fields. While we face our inner demons, we strive for that innocence and peace found in the early days of youth. Check out the official video for yourself here.
