New Music Friday: Evanescence Joins Forces with Female Rock-stars in New Single, “Use My Voice”

Evanescence’s Amy Lee has been keeping busy this quarantine. Lifting up female musicians and fans to speak out, she has also been working on the band’s upcoming studio album, The Bitter Truth. According to Amy, the long awaited album will be coming out sometime in 2020, but due to the lockdown, “who knows when we can leave the house to finish it…we’re just releasing it one at a time for awhile until we eventually drop the rest of the album at some point this year,” she commented in an interview with Entertainment Tonight earlier this year.

Known as the band to revolutionize gothic female vocals in the rock music industry, Evanescence has been releasing music for the last twenty years. Highly skilled and practiced over the years, the band’s sound is easily recognizable, and an easy spell of lilting vocals and heavy electric guitar to fall into. Many fans can lean into the emotional lyrics and lose themselves in the relatable stories spun by Amy Lee and her band mates.

“Use My Voice” is the third single from the upcoming album, dropped to encourage fans to vote in the upcoming election. You can take part Headcount’s event at the link HERE.

In this single, Amy Lee joined forces with other female powerhouses in the music industry, such as Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Taylor Momsen (The Pretty Reckless), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Deena Jakoub (Veridia), and more, who accompany her in the chorus and bridge with hauntingly captivating vocals. Lindsey Sterling’s violin sings in the background throughout the song, as well.

“This is an era of awakening, and full of powerful beauty,” says Amy Lee. “I hope to inspire others to seek truth, find their own voices, and use them as I step up to use mine. Don’t let anybody speak for you. Only you can do that.”
