Dropping Hits: Surf Mesa Drops New Single “City of Love” featuring Selah Sol

On Jan. 27, electronic musician Surf Mesa dropped his single, “City of Love” featuring the vocals of Selah Sol via Astralwerks after months of teasing and we are ready to share!

Just under three minutes, this song is just as soulful and relatable as it is catchy–a perfect replay song if you ask us. “City of Love” is a song about attachment and in such a short amount of time it shares just how difficult it is to move on.

Surf poured himself into this single and it’s reflected in the song. The contrast between mellow lyrics and upbeat instrumentals in the background pulls in listeners. “City of Love” tells a story about how both artists had hopes to move on, begin anew in a big city, but a part of them still can’t move on.

“Trying to move on but something’s holding me on / Cuz I think about you / (Bout you, bout you, bout you)”

Lyrics from City of Love

Surf has been teasing this single since the end of last year and many of his peers such as, The Chainsmokers, Zedd, Marshmello, and more were anticipating the release of this song. While this song already has some admirable listeners, Surf explains that this single was personal for him.

Since the first time he heard Selah Sol’s vocals he has put the work in on this song. He states:

“Countless versions and revisions have been made until this one and I could not be more ready to share it with the world!! This song resonates with my life and sonic sound to a T and I hope it resonates with listeners, too.”
