‘Don’t Give Up’ on Zoe Wees

As finals season is on the horizon and the world is heading towards the second half of the year, Zoe Wees reminds us that we are working through it together and to preserve in our goals. Her message is in the form of a song, appropriately titled “Don’t Give Up,” which was released this previous month.

The song is an atmospheric, dance-pop track that finds Wees pleading to the listener to take a look at the world around them and to carry on, despite their hardest struggles. It is fitting that “Don’t Give Up”‘s atmospheric energy allows for nature-themed lyrics as metaphors.

Dancing with the sun, but there’s thunder in your mind
(Thunder in your mind, thunder in your mind)
You’re gon’ be okay, I know it’s hard, but you’ll survive
(Yeah, you’ll survive, yeah, you’ll survive)
Do you ever feel, do you ever feel alone? (Alone, alone)
Mm-ah (Alone, alone)

“Don’t Give Up”

While working on the song, Wees commented that it came from a personal place in her life and hopes that the listener will resonate with the message;

 “Sometimes the weight of the world feels too heavy to bear and most of the time giving up seems like the easiest way. This song is a reminder to me that this is not an option and that I’ve got the power to overcome anything that comes my way. You’re stronger than you think and you’re never alone. And even when the world turns upside down, never give up.”
