Nashville pop artist DNNY (not to be confused with danny G) dropped his latest single “Bad Side” on Friday. The release of this mid-tempo track continues a busy year for the independent artist, who has also put out an album and another single in 2020.
Lyrically, DNNY uses “Bad Side” to reflect on a disintegrated relationship, which has brought out the worst parts of him in their journey from lovers to exes. This song sounds like it could be on Top 40 radio right now, with the right balance of electronic, modernized production and authentic, emotional vocals. While it doesn’t sound particularly innovative or unique, DNNY’s rangy, raw vocal performance on this song makes this a worthy, notable addition to his catalog.
In the aftermath of the death of George Floyd and the ensuing unrest in the United States, DNNY has teamed up with several other artists to support Color of Change and the NAACP Legal Defense Fund in their #ArtistsForChange initiative. He will be donating half of the publishing percentage of “Bad Side” to those causes.
