Donning bright clothing that snaps immediate attention, Mazie took the stage at The Governors Ball on the third and final day to a crowd of adoring fans that would scream back her high-energy lyrics to her. The modern-day flower child is a powerhouse musician that explores the trials and tribulations of being a young adult in today’s world. She’s also a DIY queen who is hands-on with her colorful music videos, which match her vibrant aesthetic, and an activist who believes in getting involved at a local level to make a difference.

Mazie is redefining pop culture from the comfort of her own home. Her music is built on contradictions – eerie lyricism paired with cartoonish visuals and innocent nostalgia laced with a sense of dread. Although music has been a part of her life for some time, it wasn’t until right before the pandemic that she really decided to go all-in on her career, as introducing herself to the world as Mazie – the contradiction that is the essence of her persona. She talks further about her experiences from which she draws her lyrical inspiration, how she DIYs her music videos, and coming into her own during our interview.
