Divine Sweater, Boton-born and Brooklyn-based, have shared a stunning visual for “In the Comedown.” This single is a standout track off of Down Deep (A Nautical Apocalypse), the band’s LP released earlier this year. They teased the album with a handful of singles, “In the Comedown” among “All the Way Back,” “When the World is Ending,” and “Waking up Alone / Julia.” The new video is an exciting addition, as its plot reflects that of the entire record. Created by the band’s close friend Gregory Fisher, Divine Sweater spoke on their new music video:

“Gregory Fisher had the vision to outline the album’s plot in an animated video and “In the Comedown” was the perfect song to accompany it. The video captures characters seeking shelter in abandoned submarines in a last-ditch effort to keep living while the apocalypse happens around them.”

The animated setup is creative and thought-provoking, expressing the song’s musical beauty  via rich colors and dynamic characters upon a plot-line that is brought to life with wonder. There’s a certain sparkle to the song, found in the vocals, electric guitar, chimes and brass. Divine Sweater’s visuals hold the same vibrance of life and personality. The characters exude authentic emotions, and the world they inhabit is full of detail and thoughtful elements.

Down Deep (A Nautical  Apocalypse), via Better Company Records, is a vivid concept album, composed of vignettes from the end of the world. Each track has a story, characters reflecting upon the lives they’ve lived, living amongst their memories of hope as well as loss. Divine Sweater, leaning into their science fiction fantasy, looked to inspiration from iconic works like David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust. However, they were adamant that it be entirely based on Earth, nodding to the reality of climate change and the current changing world around us.
