Disco Donnie Presents, the largest independent promoter in the United States, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with some eye-catching company renovations.
In a letter to his fans, DDP founder James “Disco” Donnie Estopinal revealed that the name of the company has officially changed, from Disco Donnie Presents to Disco Presents. Donnie wrote that the change was due because “what we have built is bigger than just me now and it deserves a name that exemplifies that.”
Moreover, Donnie explained that the company’s logo would be (temporarily) changing as well.
“To mark this special year, we’re introducing a new, retro-inspired logo that pays homage to our original Disco Productions logo, which was admittedly ripped off the logo of the vegetable-oil brand Crisco,” Donnie said. “This [logo] will be exclusively used in 2024, serving as a nostalgic reminder of our beginnings.”
Disco Donnie, who has been recognized by Rolling Stone as one of “EDM’s 50 Most Important People,” founded Disco Donnie Presents in 1994 with the goal of bringing dance music to a wider audience after he was first exposed to the fledgling EDM genre. While Donnie has been the frontman of his own business since its founding, he also partakes in philanthropic work — since 2012, he has donated over $2 million.
While nobody is free from their share of struggles, Disco Donnie and Disco Presents have faced notable past hardships to keep the company going while ensuring all patrons and staff can have freedom of speech, even with laws in place such as the RAVE Act and the infamous “crack house” statutes. Despite what Disco Presents and Donnie have had to endure, Donnie freed Disco Presents from the shackles of third-party ownership when he bought his company back from SFX in 2020.
Today, Disco Presents has sold over 20 million tickets and produced over 20,000 live events, arena shows and outdoor festivals since its founding in the mid-’90s. Disco Presents owes its success, in part, to many large festivals that it has produced in the past, such as Sunset Music Festival, Lights All Night and Texas Eclipse.
This year, Disco Presents has a plethora of shows planned to kick off its 30th anniversary year — Texas Eclipse is returning in April for four days of jamming to celebrate the total solar eclipse predicted in just a month from now. What’s more, the outer-space-themed Ubbi Dubbi Fest is also returning to the Dallas area at the end of May to kick off the summer.
“Thank you for being a part of the Disco Presents family over the past 30 years. Whether you’ve been with us from the beginning or just joined our community, we’re excited to celebrate this milestone with you,” Donnie said.
