Basketball legend turned dubstep star DIESEL, aka Shaquille O’Neill, has released GORILLA WARFARE via Monstercat. The ten-track album is DIESEL’s debut dance project. He incorporates features from a number of up-and-coming house music stars, including Chassi, Celo, Hairitage, and more. O’Neill’s distinct flavor is ready to detonate the music scene, defining a new era in bass music alongside a star lineup of collaborators.

“Dubstep has always been an escape for me. I’ve grown to learn how important this community is, and I hope my album (GORILLA WARFARE) is proof of that. Working with Crankdat, Jessica Audiffred, Hairitage and Celo was an incredible experience. Together we created some of the hardest hitting bangers and after over 2 years in the making, we are all so proud of this body of work. We cannot wait for the world to listen to GORILLA WARFARE.”

Shaquille O’Neill has used music as a personal tactic since his youth. As a basketball player, rhythm has always been a large component of his life. His iconic NBA career was held by an artist who found solace in heavy beats and dynamic basslines. This album is refreshing because it is O’Neill’s chance to put his evolution to its own ode as DIESEL, reflecting the deep resonances of dubstep that he holds so dearly.

GORILLA WARFARE calls back to DIESEL’s origins in hip-hop, cut on the edge of an innovative dubstep sound. He draws on his diverse experiences when composing, a clear, rich history in every moment of the album. The convergence of talents with Shaq truly takes the album to the next level. Jessica Audiffred, hailing from Mexico City, brings a fiery trap genius to “NO FEAR.” Crankdat, aka Christian Smith, arrives at “HEAT” with a diverse palette, pulling strings that turn GORILLA WARFARE from fabulous to masterful.

DIESEL is no stranger to live DJ performances, having kicked off his packed SUMMER OF BASS tour at Forbidden Kingdom in June. Later, he dominated shows at Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, and more. Ever since Shaquille O’Neill’s debut album dropped in the early 90s, he has been commanding musical stages with his charm and productive prowess. Out now, GORILLA WARFARE is no exception.
