Today, Sacramento based, chart-topping, and genre-defying quintet– Dance Gavin Dance– dropped an announcement for their most unique event to date. Tree City Sessions, Volume 2 is set to take the streets for a global streaming performance in which the setlist is chosen by fans. Featuring tracks that haven’t been performed before, the band will be performing on the iconic city landmark, Tower Bridge.
Dance Gavin Dance released their ninth studio album, Afterburner, earlier this year; which has already clocked up 70.2 million streams since release and topped a multitude of charts on two separate occasions. The album is equally aggressive as well as lighthearted. While bending the genre limits of post-hardcore and rock music, they’ve become admired for creating seriously good tunes without taking itself too seriously. (Check out our review of the album here!)
Shutting down Sacramento’s Tower Bridge is no light endeavor. As a main street through the city to the state’s Capitol building, transforming it into a concert stage complete with the full arena lighting production is a colossal undertaking. Tilian Pearson, vocalist of Dance Gavin Dance, shares “We are poised to step up to the challenge of playing a fully fan-voted set, and it is an honor to be able to shut down traffic in the middle of the city to do it.”
