Nashville, prepare yourselves for an epic weekend full of house music, dance moves, and good vibes – Deep Tropics is officially back this year and it’s off to an amazing start. The pre-party hosted last night at The Back Corner was an intimate kick-off overflowing with nu-disco, feel-good, and soulful house thanks to Lux Velour, Treasure Fingers, and LP Giobbi. Good times were abound and it was just the beginning.
Nashville-based duo Lux Velour (Billy Cave, Austin Knight) broke in the booming sound system and plant-equipped stage for the night with their blend of nu-disco, 80s movies, and synthwave influences. The recently formed project got the boogie going with driving basslines and dazzling flourishes that were backed by colorful visuals. Groovy dance moves took place on the dance floor as attendees filed in for the night ahead.

Treasure Fingers gave attendees a little taste of Atlanta when he took to the stage next. The DJ/producer, signed to Fool’s Gold Records, kept the crowd on its toes as he would increase the tempo with some funky beats before dropping into some slower tunes with melodic vocals. His set included a solid handful of throwback tracks, since we all know the electronic community appreciates a little bit of nostalgia ever now and then, such as “Walking On A Dream” by Empire of the Sun.

All-around rockstar LP Giobbi closed out the night, starting her set shortly after the official release of her newest single, “Close Your Eyes,” with HANA. Her opening mix was a blend between “Edge of Seventeen” and “It’s All About House Music,” pumping up the energy level of an already-energized crowd. A staunch feminist and advocate for gender equity and founder of FEMME HOUSE, LP Giobbi scattered in plenty of strong female powerhouse vocalists throughout her set. She was all smiles during her set and her infectious energy kept the dance floor moving and grooving for the remainder of the night. She pleased late-stayers with a 10-minute encore, during which she was joined by Billy of Lux Velour.

Last night certainly kicked off the weekend on a high-note, so let’s keep the party going! Deep Tropics, see you at 3:30 for the opening ceremony.
